Recent Activities

Here are some of the activities that the children have been able to take part in recently.

We went on a BEAR HUNT in PE.  We went through the LONG GRASS, squelched through the STICKY MUD and stumbled through the DARK FOREST

We played with the CORNFLOUR, STRETCHING and POURING it, feeling its TEXTURE

We PAINTED a picture using BRUSHES and EASELS

We made the waterwheel SPIN and used the pipettes to SQUIRT water.

We used our MOTOR SKILLS in time to the music.  BIG CIRCLES for FAST MUSIC and SMALL ones for SLOW.

We drew inside the STENCILS

We put the plastic worms in LENGTH order

We tapped out the RHYTHM (syllables) in our names and other simple words.

We used SCISSORS to cut paper.

We made a SHAKER and shook it in time to the music.

We SEWED THE WOOL in and out of the holes.

We played with the STICKLEBRICKS.  We made a fantastic AEROPLANE.

We traced the LETTERS OF THE ALPHABET with the magnetic wands

We played “KIM’S GAME”.  Teacher had a tray with 9 items on.  We closed our eyes, she took one object away, and we had to guess what was missing!

We played with DOMINOES, counting the dots and matching them end-to-end

We used PLASTIC LINKS to count, sort and click together

We MOULDED PLAYDOUGH to fit wiggle lines, helping us with our mark making skills

We MADE MUSIC with various instruments

We created a picture using TEXTURED COLLAGE – feathers, shiny shapes and shredded paper

We used ROLLERS to paint TRACKS and PATTERNS

We tried to KICK the BALL into the GOAL NET

We found RHYMING PICTURES and fitted them together

We played with CORNFLOUR

We played with the SAND – learning to fill containers, move it from one place to another, and make sand shapes

We made SHAPE PEOPLE choosing from triangles, squares, rectangles and circles.  We used sellotape to add concertina arms/legs and glue sticks for googly eyes!

WE PLANTED CRESS SEEDS.

We poured a little water in the bottom of a cup, added some cotton wool and sprinkled cress seeds over the top.  Then we added a tiny bit more water.

We took them home to grow.  We talked about seeds needing a warm, sunny window-cill and water to grow.
