Recent Activities

Here are some of the activities that the children have been able to take part in recently.

We used coloured soapy water to make the wheel go round. Lots of water made it go fast, a little made it go slow.

We made a helicopter by colouring paper and helping Teacher fold it.

As we dropped it to the floor, it span round and round like rotor blades

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We made shapes from lollysticks then found the same shapes around the room

——————————————————————————————————————————-

How many straws, pipecleaners and lollysticks fit in one lump of playdough!

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We matched the UK coins

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We used scissors to cut round shapes

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We made a SAND collage after we talked about the baby in our Nativity Play growing up and talking a walk in the desert

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We chose happy, sad or astonished faces and made them into a people drawing

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We painted bubble wrap and used it to print a card for Mummy.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We pushed the vehicle through the paint and made tyre tracks on the paper

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We copied Teacher in Write Dance. Loud music we made BIG marks, soft music we made SMALL marks. We went up and down, round and round, side-to-side

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We used the remote control to guide the car around our new race track

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We celebrated Chinese New Year.

One of our families brought in Fortune Cookies for us all, and another showed us how to trace Chinese writing.

The younger children made lanterns.

We all took a red lantern home.

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We put the rice in the play kitchen to make pretend food and cook tea!

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We blew the rice through a straw to make it move and see what happened

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We practised early phonics.

We listen to Teacher clapping a rhythm and then copied it.

We clapped the number of syllables in our names as we said them out loud.

Father Christmas came!

We helped put the baubles on the Preschool Christmas Tree

The Music Lady came to teach us rhythm and rhyme

We talked about traffic lights – their colours, the order they are in and what the different colours mean

——————————————————————————————————————————-

In our KeyTeacher groups we watched the colours come out of sweets when we poured water on them

——————————————————————————————————————————-

We made Pudsey biscuits for BBC Children in Need

——————————————————————————————————————————-

A few weeks ago we had an email from Havering council asking if any schools, preschools, full-day care settings etc would like to take part in making poppies for a Remembrance display outside Romford Town Hall.

We spent one afternoon making poppies in our KeyTeacher groups – and these are now decorating 6 “soldier” figures outside the entrance to the Town Hall.  They are there for the next couple of days.

Some of our photos showing our poppies are above.

We talked about brave soldiers, airmen and sailors. We stuck pictures of poppies on a hat to remember them by
